WOOLAVINGTON WI JANUARY MEETING 2017
Burns Night celebrations took place a little earlier this year for Woolavington Scottish Dancers and our local WI who once again came together in honour of the bard on the third Tuesday of the month (the usual WI meeting night).
Scottish Dancers President David carried in the haggis followed by Doris, Scottish Dancer and WI committee member with the tray of whisky toast glasses.
William gave a rousing and complete recitation of the Address from memory. Well done William!
Following the Selkirk Grace nearly 50 people feasted on haggis tatties and neeps, with mince as an alternative.
William further entertained with “Ae fond kiss”, the most recorded Robert Burns song, and gave a short biography of the great man, who rose from humble beginnings to become Scotland's national poet.
Delicious desserts provided by the Scottish Dancers completed the meal and then it was time for dancing whilst also finding an opportunity during the evening to take part in the whisky roll, raffle and name the Teddy.
A most enjoyable evening closed with Auld Lang Syne.
The March meeting to be held in the Village Hall on the 21st features Margaret Harper demonstrating her fused glass jewellery. All are welcome to come along for 7.30 start.
