JULY MEETING WOOLAVINGTON WI 2017
Our last meeting before the August break took the form of a musical evening shared with two talented musicians; Adelaide on flute and her keyboard accompanist Claire.
The duo entertained us with a trip round the British Isles through well known tunes, these all being linked to quiz questions.
The combination of flute and keyboard was well suited to the various pieces, most of which were golden oldies. The flute was particularly evocative of marching red coats in the “British Grenadiers”. It was impossible not to sing along, which of course gave a good clue as to the answers, though we did not get them all. Well done to May who achieved 22 out of 25.
Adelaide and Claire were thanked for a most enjoyable evening. It was a treat to have them open the meeting by playing Jerusalem. Our singing has never sounded so good! After refreshments social time took the form of a discussion to find out who had visited the places mentioned and we were surprised to discover there was only one to which no one had been.
August has no evening meeting but a coach trip to Stratford upon Avon is planned and our evening meeting in September, to which all are welcome, features Fabric Flowers.
We meet in the village hall on the third Tuesday of the month at 7.30. Come and visit us; we would love to see you.
