Our banner will be joining the parade to be held next month, beginning at Wells Cathedral, when banners from all over the county will be marched through the city to celebrate the Centenary of Somerset Federation of Women’s' Institutes. Woolavington will be celebrating our 75th anniversary this year so will be doubly proud to be taking part.
Future events include the summer trip, destination Torquay, theatre trip to My Fair Lady, Friday and Sunday lunch clubs and a return to social skittles, which was due to take place in two days time. The monthly walks will commence next month, starting at 1pm at Apex Park on Monday 23rd.
The evening was billed as “An evening at home” a return to the time before television was omnipresent, when families made their own entertainment.
Tables for four had been set up round the room and various old games were on offer such as snakes and ladders, ludo, old maid, whot, dominoes and draughts. Soon the hall was buzzing with chatting and laughter as as players whizzed up the ladders or happily sent the opposition home when they landed on the same square at ludo.
Refreshments consisting of hot chocolate and rock were cakes were enjoyed, completing another fun evening.
