MEETING REPORT JANUARY 2014
An evening of high drama, tension and excitement leading up to a nail biting finale. Whatever was taking place at Woolavington WI's first meeting of the year?
It was an entertaining kurling tournament organised by some members of Walton WI who also provided the equipment and initial instruction.
The game is adapted from the one played on ice and uses stones comprising of stainless steel ball bearings at the base which are able to glide over any smooth, flat, indoor surface. It is well suited for those with limited mobility as there are broom like pushers which can be used to propel the stones.
Our initial attempts resulted in much laughter, shouts of encouragement and advice as everyone took a turn.
A delicious array of cakes were sampled with a welcome cuppa at the break, before the grand final was played. Penny, Sariquia and Mo were the winners and received certificates.
Five members were presented with posies together with a beautiful card, which had been handmade by member Lin Salter, to celebrate their upcoming birthdays.
A grand evening of fellowship and fun.
