Meeting Report Nov 2012 - AGM
Despite the horrid weather a gratifying number of members attended the WI AGM recently, one new member joined on the night, and two Count Advisers travelled across the county to attend!
It had been planned to hold a ballot - the first in a long while, but due to a technicality this was not possible. However when asked, members voted overwhelmingly in favour of adding a byelaw to the Constitution to regulate the size of Committee and hopefully enable a ballot at the next AGM, which will be held in just 6 months’time.
Corena Mundell read a detailed report of the Federation AGM held in Yeovil where we heard Paul Atterbury, the charming expert from Antiques Roadshow noted for his colourful striped blazers! An accomplished and entertaining speaker, he gave a fascinating insight into events behind-the-scenes.
Kerry gave members a taste of her time spent at Denman, the prestigious WI College in Oxfordshire, on a digital photography course using her bursary from Woolavington WI. Afterwards Veronica Andrews, County Denman Ambassador, explained the precarious future of this much-loved college, and it was decided that the committee should write a letter of support to the Principal, on behalf of the membership.
