What could be better than to spend a day at the seaside with of course, fish and chips and an ice cream? Having boarded the bus in gloriously sunny weather this was the treat in store for Woolavington WI members at the October meeting.
Sitting on the beach complete with chairs, blankets, buckets and spades, sun hats and sun cream, we watched the walkers on the promenade, admiring hats, sailors and speculating on what a married gentleman known to us was doing with a new lady friend.
After going for a trip on the boating lake leaving our gear on the beach under the watchful eyes of our local Beat Officer, Greg and Lora, PCSO for the Poldens (thank you both for attending) the ice cream man was spotted, who provided cornettos for all, before a visit to the funfair and a much needed cup of tea, following which, we said “good byee” to all our friends.
Of course we didn't actually go to Burnham on Sea for the day, as all was celebrated in a musical drama led by four brave members, suitably attired in shorts, crop trousers and sun-dresses, who soon had everyone joining in the fun, but the delicious fish and chips collected from the 37 club by our President's husband, who also had several walk on parts, (many thanks Robert), were real and much enjoyed, as were the cornettos.
The usual business of correspondence, notices of future events, the raffle, competition results and a forthcoming birthday recognised with a posy and card concluded the evening, a good time having been had by all.
