Another busy month for our WI members, commencing with Teresa's President's tea which has now become a much anticipated annual event. As is usual this sunny day early in the month was well attended with almost a full house. We enjoyed tasty sandwiches, salmon and asparagus quiche, egg muffins, yummy summer punch and wine. Also a vast display of cake was on offer, carrot, ginger, coconut, chocolate and lemon drizzle. Members participated in a fun cake related quiz and raffle and were able to buy books for summer reading as well as cakes to take home. A very pleasant social event.
Another sunny day saw a full coach set off for Dartmouth, the destination for the summer outing, where members and friends enjoyed strolling through the town, visiting the castle and for some a boat trip on the river.
As in previous years the WI were out in force to support the Woolavington Village Show, not only by attending but also entering various classes, ( with some successful results), manning stalls and donating items for the book stall, raffle, tombola and of course cakes for the cake table. Teresa sold the cakes, Joan and Cindy provided a splendid barbecue and were kept busy all afternoon. Corena, Dawn and new member Sue prepared and sold delicious refreshments, whilst Eve, Sariquia and Mo ran the tombola with Karen selling the craft club's beautiful handmade cards. Last but not least, new member Doris (and husband) sold raffle tickets throughout the afternoon.
The fine weather ensured a good turnout and over £1100 was raised for the Village Hall.
